Sierra Leone Declares Rape a National Emergency

The President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maado Bio,  has officially declared rape a national emergency. In his doing so he has also announced free hospital care to sexual assault victims, he created a special police and court divisions to deal with the cases that come in, he also established a hotline where victims can call. In this quote from the article it explains the situation, "Sierra Leone's sexual violence statistics are harrowing. According to the country's police service, there were more than 8,500 reported case of sexual- and gender-based violence in 2018 — and a third of these involved a minor. But many activists, and the country's first lady, say the number of actual cases is likely much higher, as many instances go unreported". Most of the victims are under the age of 15. Nigeria, Elections, and Corruption

He got voter approval by promising to end Boko Haram and by promising to bring back female captives. He is now doing his re-election campaign and he is being accused of failing on all fronts. He got a team together to investigate corruption within government officials and the team also uncovered millions of dollars hidden inside walls of apartments. He caught on to the fact that the nations chief justice had millions of dollars in his bank account and got dismissed right away.

Africa and Heroin

Before, 1980's to 1990's, they were found in areas that had white hipsters or where there were a lot of tourists. Since 2006 heroin consumption has increased faster in Africa than any other continent according to the UN office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The consumption of this drug has not just put a lot of people's lives at risk it has also affected the political climate in Africa.
