Heroin addicts were rare in Africa up until 2006. Before, 1980's to 1990's, they were found in areas that had white hipsters or where there were a lot of tourists. Since 2006 heroin consumption has increased faster in Africa than any other continent according to the UN office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The consumption of this drug has not just put a lot of people's lives at risk it has also affected the political climate in Africa.
