Russia and Sudan

Sudan's president Omar al-Bashir has been removed from office by the military after months of protests. The president was replaced by a military council headed by General Awad Ibn Auf. General Awad Ibn Auf took it upon himself to declare a state of emergency and put the military council into place for two years. The protesters did not like the idea of Awad Ibn Auf taking charge therefore he resigned and put  Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in charge as his successor.

Russias deputy foreign minister said Moscow recognizes Sudans transitional government. The Russian government has said that they do keep in touch with the military council in Sudan.
